6 pounds and growing!

6 pounds!  That's what the Dr. estimated that Owen weighs at our appointment yesterday.  If he continues to gain half a pound a week, he'll be 8 1/2 lbs at his due date - yikes!  I hope he doesn't come late :)

Eric and I have been busy the past few weeks and have really gotten a lot accomplished.  I'm happy to say that if Owen decided to come tonight, we'd be ready for him (more or less). The nursery is complete except for a few finishing touches.  His bassinet is set up in our bedroom.  We have the car seat ready to put in the car and his going home outfit laid out and ready. I'll take some pictures of the nursery this weekend and post them here next week.

We've also finished our Bradley classes and Eric even got his very own "Licensed Birth Coach" card. We went on a tour of the hospital, pre-registered and got our birth plan signed.  Based on what they told us on the tour, not everything we want for after he's born will be possible (he can only room in if one of us is awake and they take him away for a few hours after the birth to bathe him and watch his vital signs) but it feels good to at least know what to expect.

The one thing I don't know what to expect is what to do when we get to take him home...

I've been reading tons of book on breast feeding, getting your baby to sleep, eat well etc., but I know that the true learning will only come in time.  It's so hard to believe that he'll be here in a month.

Here is a recent pic of Owen at 36 weeks.  Notice how tired I look - and how big my ankles and feet are swelling :(  That is really the only thing I have to complain about right now - I'm pretty lucky.

Here are a few more pictures from Owen's baby showers:

  1. So adorable! I think you look great. Love the cake the girls at work made for your shower. The main thing I remember being a little apprehensive a/b was bathing the baby. I know your mom will be there to show you the ropes! I'm so excited for you two!!!
