Eric and I decided on a surfer theme for our little dude and instead of buying all our decor from a baby store, we found some key pieces in Galveston and at Hobby Lobby that we based the room around. I also got some great inspiration and advice from some ladies at work - one of whom actually made the bedding and curtains for me (thanks Brie!). The room isn't very "babyish," we wanted something he could grow into. My favorite part is that it's cozy, colorful and bright and I can imagine all the fun he'll have here as he grows up.
This is by no means all the cute little parts of the room - that would take far too many pictures and I think you'd start to wonder exactly how long I spent decorating my first child's room - and yes I know that our second born will not have a room as cool as this one :)
So without any further delays....Owen Lars Oslund's "surfer dude" nursery.
We'll see if this sign holds true...this is on the door to his room.
By far the coolest part of the nursery - this is right above his crib.
The nursing, rocking, reading nook - very comfy glider!
Close ups of some of the cool wall decor we found in Galveston. Eric loves the baby swimming with the fish, we had to get the VW van with the surfboards on top and my friend Brie made the surfer dude for my shower - isn't she creative!
Here's the area to the right of the chair - see all the books. We can't wait to start reading to our little boy!
Here's the amazing quilt our friend Joyce made. We have it hanging from the armoire and it really brightens up that corner of the room.
And finally the changing table. We had so much fun picking out all the pictures that are hanging above it. Our favorite is the one of Eric and his grandpa on the beach. Owen is named for his great grandad Owen Oslund and his daddy Eric Lars.
There are so many more pictures, signs and little touches to his room that I'd love to show you - but you'll just have to come visit!
JEALOUS JEALOUS JEALOUS of that wonderfully put together nursury... Ian's pales in comparison to this very hip baby abode. It looks like a GREAT place for baby Owen to grow and learn :-)

LOVE the words on the wall! That is so awesome. I actually haven't seen a room done that way with all the different words. I can't wait to see pictures of your little guy when he arrives!
